History and Functions of the Department
      The Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman created today's Department of Education and Engineering in 1972 by forming an "Engineering Unit" with the aim of rebuilding and repairing educational institutions in the war-torn Bangladesh. Since independence, Bangabandhu started working to free every people of the country from the curse of illiteracy, promising to build Sonar Bangla.
